BIRTH DOULA

DONA International doulas are educated and experienced in childbirth and the postpartum period. We are prepared to provide physical (non-medical), emotional and informational support to women and their partners during labor and birth, as well as to families in the weeks following childbirth. We offer a loving touch, positioning and comfort measures that make childbearing women and families feel nurtured and cared for.

BIRTH DOULA PACKAGE

ONE CONSULTATION

This is totally free and no obligation. We will meet in your

home or at a coffee shop and talk about why you

want a doula, who I am, and my experience in childbirth

and doula work. Maybe this is you and your partners

first baby and you feel a little un-prepared? Maybe you

want this birth to look different than the first time? We

can talk over all these things.

TWO PRENATAL VISITS

From the time of hire I am available to you 24-7 by phone or e-mail to answer any questions that come up. During our 1st prenatal visit we talk more about what you want your birth to look like. I can help you write a birth plan and we spend some time covering childbirth education. During our 2nd visit, I like to have anyone who will be present at the birth (grandma, dad, partner) to go over some helpful labor positions, massage techniques and other comfort measures. I don't want to take the place of your other support people, I want to get them involved as much as possible.

CONTINUOUS SUPPORT

I am available to you 2 weeks before and after your due date. In the event that the birth takes place outside of this time, I will do everything possible to be there or I do have back-ups I work with. I will meet you at your home and help with early labor support all the way through helping with the baby's first latch on. I will be with you the whole time offering comfort, guidance and a calming presence.

POSTPARTUM VISIT AND BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT

At this visit we get to talk over your feelings about the birth. I will also have detailed birth notes I can share with you. And I can offer any advice or referrals for the post-partum time. I am also very experienced in lactation support.

ABOUT ME

I always knew I wanted to work with women and babies. From a young age I wanted to be a nurse. Through college I worked towards a degree, but life took a different course and I met my wonderful husband. We got married, and soon after left on our journey in the Army. I have had an awesome opportunity to see the world and am happy to support my husband in his career. With our ever changing locations I found it hard to finish my goal of Nursing School, but I did continue to work in the medical field.

My husband and I have 3 wonderful kids. After the birth of my first child, I realized the importance of a woman getting the full physical and emotional support she needs in labor. I truly feel that I have found what I am made to do! Being a Doula and Childbirth Educator allows me the amazing privilege to support, nurture and educate women in pregnancy, birth and those wonderful newborn days. All the reasons I had wanted to become a nurse. I strongly believe that a woman’s body knows how to birth, and that all the processes that we go through to give birth to our children have a reason. I believe every woman deserves a doula to support her during the most wonderful and memorable time of her life.
